TV Bank Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative and President: Masayoshi Son) will begin to stream Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters home games held in the Sapporo Dome (26 games in total during the regular season, except those on June 17, 18 and 30) on Yahoo! Streaming (http://streaming.yahoo.co.jp/), a video portal site provided by Yahoo Japan Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masahiro Inoue), from June 16 of this year. The distribution bit rate is 768 kbps, and the program is available, free of charge, to all broadband users. About two-thirds of the games will be broadcast live, and the rest of the games will be streamed about one hour behind the actual game (delayed streaming).
The Nippon-Ham Fighters, a baseball team in the Pacific League, added "Hokkaido" to its name in 2004 when it decided to change its home ground to the Sapporo Dome in Hokkaido, and it has been focusing its efforts on staying close to its community. Thanks to these efforts, as well as to its popular players such as Michihiro Ogasawara and SHINJO, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters attracted as many as 1,365, 643 spectators in total to its games, the second largest in the Pacific League during the 2005 season. It is expected that fans not only in Hokkaido, but also in Tokyo, its former home, and other parts of Japan, will watch its exciting games on the Yahoo! Streaming site.
By launching the streaming of Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters home games, Yahoo! Streaming, which has already been streaming the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks home games, now shows the home games of two Pacific League teams.
